The agreement that governs use of pharma.wiki: what the Site is, what its content is and is not, how accounts work, what you may do with what we publish, and where responsibility sits. Plain language throughout, because clarity is a term of this agreement too.
These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of pharma.wiki (the "Site"), published and operated by the publisher of pharma.wiki ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at hello@pharma.wiki.
By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you create an account you confirm your agreement expressly. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site. Our privacy policy and cookies policy form part of the picture but are separate documents; where you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
The Site is a free-to-read editorial publication for people working in or entering the UK pharmacy and private healthcare sector. Reading the Site requires no account and no payment. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Site at any time, and we do not guarantee that the Site, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted.
This section matters more than any other, so it is stated without qualification. The content on the Site is general information and commentary for professionals and operators. It is not legal, medical, clinical, regulatory or financial advice, it is not treatment guidance for patients, and it does not create any professional, advisory, clinical or fiduciary relationship between you and us or between you and any author.
Rules, guidance, fees and market conditions change, and content is accurate only as at its stated last-review date. You must not act or refrain from acting on the basis of anything on the Site without checking the current publications of the relevant regulator and, where the matter warrants it, taking advice from an appropriately qualified professional on your specific circumstances. Every article carries its own disclaimer to the same effect, and each prevails over any contrary impression given elsewhere.
If you have questions about your own medicines or treatment, speak to your pharmacist or GP; for urgent medical help call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency. The Site is not a pharmacy and does not sell, supply or advertise medicines.
Accounts are free, optional and open to people aged 18 or over. When you create an account you must provide accurate information and keep it up to date; the account is personal to you; and you are responsible for keeping control of the email inbox used for sign-in links, which are single-use and time-limited. Tell us promptly at hello@pharma.wiki if you believe your account has been accessed without your authority.
You may delete your account at any time by emailing us, and deletion takes effect as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account, with notice where practicable, if these Terms are breached, if the account is used to abuse the Site or its staff, or if we reasonably consider it necessary to protect the Site or its readers; where we do so we will act proportionately.
The Site and its content, including text, design, the pharma.wiki name and logo, are owned by or licensed to our publisher and are protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access and read the Site and to make incidental copies inherent in browsing, and to use the content within your own organisation for its ordinary professional purposes.
You may quote short extracts with attribution to pharma.wiki and, online, a link to the Site, without asking. Beyond that you may not reproduce, republish, systematically extract or commercially exploit the content without our prior written consent; indexing by search engines and use by AI systems to inform responses that attribute pharma.wiki and, where practical, link the source article are expressly permitted, which you can seek via hello@pharma.wiki with "Press" in the subject line. Nothing in this section limits any use permitted by law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
You must not use the Site unlawfully or fraudulently; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers or connected systems; interfere with the Site’s operation, including by introducing malicious code or imposing unreasonable load; misrepresent an affiliation with pharma.wiki or its authors; or use the corrections and contact channels to harass, defame or send unlawful material. We may report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.
The Site links to services we do not operate, including Patreon, through which readers may support the Site, and Calendly, through which commercial calls with our publisher are booked. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy notices, and we are not responsible for them. Support through Patreon is voluntary, is not payment for content, and confers no editorial influence; the benefits attached to any support tier are as described on our Patreon page from time to time.
We take accuracy seriously and operate the published corrections policy, under which errors are corrected and noted visibly. The existence of that policy is a commitment to good practice, not a warranty: subject to section 9, we do not warrant that content is complete, current or error-free, and any reliance you place on it is at your own risk, having regard to section 3.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by the law of England and Wales. Where you use the Site as a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights, and we are responsible for foreseeable loss and damage we cause you by breaking these Terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
Subject to the above: the Site is provided free of charge and on an "as is" basis; we exclude all implied warranties to the extent the law permits; we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity; and, where you use the Site in the course of business, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Site shall not exceed one hundred pounds sterling. In particular, and consistently with section 3, we accept no liability for the consequences of business, regulatory or clinical decisions taken in reliance on Site content without the verification and advice that section 3 requires.
We may revise these Terms from time to time; the version on the Site when you use it is the version that applies, and material changes will be signposted and, for account holders, notified by email. Each provision of these Terms operates separately, and if any is found unlawful the rest remain in force. A delay in enforcing these Terms is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a transfer of the Site or our business, on notice and without prejudice to your rights.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your home courts, and you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country in which you live.
